STEM / SECURE FUTURES 2025
In recent years Secure Futures has on its own supported over 100 young people to gain an in-depth understanding of careers within the security industry, everything from guarding and monitoring to cyber security. This has allowed participating young people to make more informed decisions about their future and supported employers to grow their talent pipeline.
Last year, organisations as varied as the National Protective Security Authority, Corps Security and the Walt Disney Company participated. This year for the first time we are broadening the programme to include young people with an interest in broader science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. We currently have opportunities on our London based programme this summer (see dates below) for corporate partners to fund and host places for young people and put forward volunteers to engage and inspire the next generation of security professionals.
How does the programme work?
The focus of the two-week programme will centre around:
Week 1 (27th to 30th May): Employability skills sessions aiming to prepare the young people for careers in the security industry or wider careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Week 2 (21st to 24th July): A further day of employability skills training and three days of work experience in the office or in the field. Three days of workshops, informational sessions, shadowing opportunities and a business case study. There are lots of opportunities for your colleagues to get involved.
Post programme: each young person is assigned a mentor to provide career guidance over the following 6 months.
How much does it cost?
Each place for a young person costs £2,200 (minimum commitment two places and many fund more). This funds the end-to-end experience for the young person (who gets paid), including outreach, recruitment, onboarding, laptops and the running of the programme.
When is the deadline to sign up?
The deadline to sign up to support the programme for Summer 2025 is mid-February 2025.
