Chartered Security Professionals come together at IFSEC
The Register of Chartered Security Professionals enjoyed networking drinks at IFSEC 2022, coming together at the first IFSEC Fire and Security Show this side of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The networking drinks were preceded by an in-person application workshop, held in the ASIS Lounge. Hosted by Richard Stevens CSyP FSyI, Victoria Smith and Bob Martin CSyP FSyI, the workshop provided potential registrants with an in-depth presentation about the origins and aims of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals, the application process, and a selection of tips based on the experience of the 3 hosts; who between them are involved in all the stages of the application process. The casual and informal nature of the workshop allowed the opportunity for lots of questions, and interaction from the potential registrants, and we look forward to receiving their applications. As the Register continues to grow, the workshops provide a valuable step in the application journey, and more information on future application workshops can be found on the CSyP website.
Following the application workshop, networking drinks allowed the potential applicants an opportunity to join current Chartered Security Professionals in a relaxed and social environment. Fuelled by a mix of hard and soft drinks, the conversation was lively, with old friends catching-up alongside potential applicants distilling the experience and insight of current Chartered Security Professionals. Many of the guests had spent the day ‘walking the floor’ of the show and had worked up quite a thirst. The drinks, and the opportunity to catch-up with colleagues and friends, proved to be so popular at quenching that thirst, that the drinks had to be extended! In the end it was the formal closing of the show which brought the networking to an end.
The networking drinks proved so popular that it is definitely something which might make another appearance at future industry events. Thanks to Vicky Smith from the Register of Chartered Security Professionals and Mike O’Neill CSyP FSyI from ASIS UK Chapter for co-ordinating the workshop, to Bob Martin CSyP FSyI from the Security Institute for sharing his insight and experience with our potential registrants, and to Letitia Emeana, ASIS UK Chapter Chair, for sponsoring the networking drinks.
